The third game of Kisei Title Series

The third game of the 92th Kisei Title series 5-game match, where Watanabe Meijin was challenging Fujii Kisei was held at the Numazu Imperial Villa in Numazu City on July 3th. We can see the beautiful senary of Mt Fuji in Numazu City.

Sente was Watanabe Meijin.  Watanabe Meijin chose Yagura, Fujii Kisei chose rapid attack with sitting king.

It was a fierce opening game. Despite Both King`s stiffness was very weak, Watanabe Mejin  exchanged bishop to gold at the opening and middle game.  Fujii Kisei attacked from 7th edge.

End game was very dramatic. Players who did not choose best move would lose. Each player chose best moves.   Watanabe Meijin was dominant in AI evaluation. I thought that Watanabe Meijin won, but  He  made a mistake and Fujii Kisei was better in Situation balance.

Fujii Kisei won with 100 moves. He broke 2 records-  the youngest defending title record whose record was yashiki 9-dan`s 19 years and 7 days and the youngest 9-dan whose record was Watanabe Meijin`s 21 years and 7 months.

Watanebe Meijin was the first time to lose straight for the first time in his 39th title series.

Tanikawa 9-dan(17th permanent Meijin) commented“ Fujii Kisei`s performance was perfect,so he had no weakness. If you compare to professional baseball players,  He is an Ichiro.  He is not interested in breaking records of Shogi, He continues to have a desire to be strong.”

July3th is the historical day isn`t it ?
