The second game of the 92th Kisei Title series 5-game match, where Watanabe Meijin was challenging Fujii Kisei was held at Hotel New Awaji in Sumoto city on June 18th.
Hotel New Awaji is located on the east coast of Awaji Island, which has the most splendid view of the Kitan Strait and Osaka Bay from all guest rooms. It took about 30 minutes from Kobe and 1 hour from Osaka by car.
According to the ancient Japanese literature, Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, Awaji Island is said to be the first island that formed for Japan. There are many locations related to the legends of how this nation was born. The beautiful nature, historic culture, abundant cuisine, and countless hot springs are among the charms of Awaji Island that you can experience.
Sente was Fujii Kisei. Game form was Double wing attack in true ability game form. Fujii Kisei chose sitting king , Watanabe Meijin formed Yagura. Fujii Kisei and Watanabe meijin put own camp bishop each other at the opening game.
This game`s total movement was 171 moves. Kisei title Series` hold time is 4 hours by one player. Fuji Kisei`s hold time was only 7 minutes left by 65 moves and his king was unstable. On the other hand, Watanabe Meijin`s hold time was 50 minutes and Watanabe Meijin`s King was very hard. Most Shogi funs thought that Watanabe Meijin would win.
Amazingly Fujii Kisei did not use hold time from 71 moves to 171 moves. He used only one minute in 93 moves, 113 moves, 145moves. Even if he had no time , He did not make mistake.
On the other hand, Watanabe Meijin used hold time little by little, used all holding time at last and begun 1-minute game. He said that situation balance was reversal in 86 moves.
Fuji kisei won with 171 moves. Taichi Nakamura 7-dan said “ if you compare it with boxing, Fujii Kisei`s fighting style was like Floyd Mayweather. He had an excellent sense of balance and defense that does not let the opponent attack.”
I could not believe that Watanabe Mejin lost in this pattern. Every time He faced this kind of situation, He won. If he had played with another player, he could have won.
Third game will be held at July 3th. I am looking forward to Watanabe Meijin`s backlash.
